Chairman
New (all can attend) Parents Mandantory Meeting    "New Parent and Current Parent Orientation"

Over the next 2 weeks, the troop will be conducting its annual Parent Orientation meetings to educate parents on Troop 101 and its delivery of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) PROGRAM to your boys. We REQUIRE, however that the parents of our recent Webelos crossovers attend one of these sessions. These meetings are open to all interested parents. We have scheduled the meetings so that ALL parents can attend one of the three sessions. Either Thursday night or Saturday morning. We have done it this way so that BOTH parents can attend either both parents at the same time or in separate sessions. The meetings are scheduled for the following dates/times:

Thursday, March 4th 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM

Saturday, March 13th 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM

Thursday, March 18th 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM

At these meetings, Troop 101's Adult Leaders will cover the basics of the Aims and Methods of Scouting, Troop Meetings, Troop Organization and Structure, Monthly Campouts, Service Projects, the Uniform, Equipment, Advancement, etc.

We conduct these meetings as our experience shows that Scouts do better in the program, when their parents understand and show interest in their son's scouting activities.

Refreshments will be served.

Please send an email to ggiannotti@charter.net with the specific meeting above, that you plan on attending. Please include the number attending.

Troop 101 Zips through the tree tops in Lincoln NH
In December 2009, Troop 101 could be found swinging through the trees in Lincoln NH.

The zipline adventure courses at Alpine Adventures allow thrill-seekers to fly across the landscape at speeds of up to 50 miles an hour while suspended as much as 200 feet off the ground.

Also, be sure to check out Brandon as he steps off the highest platform backwards and come back soon for all the photos we took.

Un-believable!!!

2010 National Scout Jamboree: Troop 101 will be traveling to the National Jamboree July 30th to Aug 3rd 2010. This is the 100th year of scouting and the Jamboree should be an event to remember. Cost for the event will be $300 per person and includes food. Be sure to check out some terrific pix of the last time Troop 101 attended and also some great promotional videos.

100 Years of Scouting:
After being helped out by a "scout" in England, an American visitor, William D. Boyce sought out Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the famous British general who had founded the Scouting movement in Great Britain. Boyce was so impressed with what he learned that he decided to bring Scouting home with him.

On February 8, 1910, Boyce and a group of outstanding leaders founded the Boy Scouts of America. From that day forth, Scouts have celebrated February 8 as the birthday of Scouting in the United States.

No one knows what happened to the boy who helped Mr. Boyce. He had neither asked for money nor given his name, but he will never be forgotten. His Good Turn helped bring the Scouting movement to our country. One Good Turn to one man became a Good Turn to millions of American boys. Such is the power of a Good Turn.
One hundred years, 110 million Scouts and more than 2 million Eagle Scouts later, it's quite a legacy. We're proud of our 100-year history and being strong today, and we look forward to the future." Here is some information on Famous BSA Scouts, and information about American Astronauts who were Scouts.

Baden-Powell thought for the day:

Scouting is not an abstruse or difficult science; rather it is a jolly game if you take it in the right light. In the same time it is educative, and--like mercy--it is apt to benefit him that giveth as well as him that receives.
